Abstract

This study was conducted on two types of bony fish that live in fresh water,( 50) fishes were collected with five groups of different lengths, and the results of the study associated with measuring the components of the absolute gill area showed a direct effect of the average total length of the gill thread on the average gill surface area, and the results of the study associated with the calculation of the relative gill area (mm 2 / g) showed a clear difference between the two types, so its value was in the grass carp fish (40.27 mm 2 / g),  While its value was in silver carp (40.92 mm2 / g), it was observed when analyzing the statistical results to know the differences recorded by calculating the average total length of the gill filaments, the number of secondary gill plates in one mm, the area of one gill plate, the absolute gill area, the presence of significant differences (p<0.05), while in the relative gill area there were non-significant differences (p<0.05) In grass and silver carp, grass and silver carp were considered within the level of active fish depending on the average total length of the gill thread in them, and this study is the first of its kind locally.
