Abstract

This study examines the significant and lasting impact of Karl Marx's ideas on culture and art, particularly regarding the establishment of a socialist-oriented artistic framework. Marx's notion of culture embodies the intrinsic ability of humans to generate, enhance, and contemplate society through the distinctive attributes of art. This research examines the pivotal function of art in shaping and mirroring the dynamics of societal development. The research is structured around a critical examination of Marx's claim on the relative autonomy of art and the dialectical interplay between the material base and superstructure in influencing creative expressions. The findings underscore the significance of Socialist Realism, especially during revolutionary conflicts and subsequent nation-building initiatives, as evidenced in numerous socialist regimes. The study illustrates, via Marxist aesthetics, how art functions as a vehicle for cultural expression and a tool for political struggle. This research consolidates essential results about the intersections of art, politics, and culture within the framework of Marxism, with the objective of enhancing current dialogues on cultural evolution in modern socialist movements. The study ultimately suggests that Marxist art theory retains contemporary relevance, providing insights into culture's function in mitigating socioeconomic inequality and promoting communal togetherness.
